Mentor Lunch

I will always remember the time my first law firm associate mentor took me to lunch to “see how things were going”.  I said that I thought things were going OK, but he was looking at his phone and didn’t really hear what I said.  He thought I said that the calamari we had ordered was just OK and said I could send it back if I wanted.  I said that the calamari was fine and that I had said it was my experience at the firm that was going OK. He was looking at his phone again because some additional emails had come in and didn’t really hear what I said. We had planned to stay for the entrees but the emails were really coming in and he had to get back to the office.
