Escrow

After months of negotiation and trading drafts of documents, a corporate deal will come to an end and the parties will then exchange signature pages via email to memorialize the finality of the documents and the signing of the deal. The first time you experience this, you will notice that the email with which the signed signature pages are delivered to you will include a message such as "these signature pages are to be held in escrow pending release at closing." One way to really distinguish yourself in the market is to add a lot of additional words to these types of sentences when you send them - for example, "to be held in escrow pending my express written release at any time hereafter, but no sooner than closing, which written release may include an email communication." When people read that, they usually think, hey that person is pretty sharp.
