The Sporting Life

Occasionally, your law firm may determine that associate morale is in need of shoring up through a group activity. This activity is sometimes a sport, often softball. Once the group arrives at the playing field, things will start out innocuously enough, as positions are determined and light stretching ensues. But there will usually be at least one very gung-ho former high school athlete partner involved, likely wearing a Barry Bonds or some other such jersey, prodding his/her sedentary associates to levels of athletic performance they haven't attempted in decades. Just try not to be the guy that blows an ACL running out a grounder. On the plus side, there is usually alcohol available after the event.
